wow delhi gurl…i did not even finish reading ur comments cos i cant believe u said amir should b in the chopper cos he admitted to being poor… whats ur age? r u telling me that when u were amir’s age ..if u had been in his situation u might not have cried when u were in bottom 3 an admitted to sonu u were poor?….and dont forget it was sonu who highlighted amir’s situation first… the kid just followed the steps of the guru…
wow…eliminate sum1 for admitting he is poor? classic…

I am fed up of hearing the word ’sympathy’ here! Why do you guys think that people will show sympathy to this person, that person. World is not full of sympathisers. People may show it externally but when it comes to spending money and sending SMS they will surely think about cost they incurred. For example there are people in this forum itself who never showed sympathy towards people like Vasundhara. Do you think people will “melt” by seeing and hearing “gareebi”. Comeon for us (Desis)we all know what is poverty. It’s a part and percale of the lifestyle of our developing countries. There are so many poor people in your native places who may be talented but are deprived how many of us have spent money on them? or sent money for their education? May be very few. The percentage of sympathy vote does not make a significant diference on the final outcome. If that was true then a poor politician who doesn’t have money to campaign but a very talented and experienced person in the field would have generally won the elections. It hardly happens.
In my understanding “sympathy” has a counterintuitive effect. People actually take such messages “negetively” like most of us do -”yaar this is a talent contest” there are many people like you in our countries.
I don’t believe in “Sympathy voting” . I do believe in voting based on regions. Specially at this stage when there are 7/8 candidates representing different region. However towards the end (for first 2/3 positions), it may work differently.

gud points made girl.by the way who do u think is goin to win the show and ur reasons for it?

Poonam’s case is different because everytime her poverty was brought up you could see it on her face that she didn’t like it. ID even said that she was worried that she was getting vote because of her gareebi and she didn’t want people to vote just because she is poor. And ofcourse people didn’t vote her because she is poor. If they did she should’ve been the winner. I am not saying that Aamir wants it too… it’s his family that raised the issue not him. And yes, people should not vote out of sympathy.
Smita is such a good singer and always end up with a difficult song, just like Anamika and Rohit. I am not surprised that Rohit was eliminated. Because these 3 kids are facing the most harsh criticism from the judges from the beginning. And the only reason Smita and Anamika are named together is not because they are bengali, it’s because these two are the most mature and most powerful singers. And if Anamika got good comments and grades from the judges that means she is outstanding. I just wish she keeps it up. Khub bhalo geyecho Anamika

LOL…That reminded me of Manoj Kumar
btw, for a Hindi speaking person your Hindi is not very good.
delhi_gurl, I am not opposed to your protest against judges’ step-motherly treatment towards Smita. All I was asking is, why include Anamika?
I dont think she’s got bad comments/grades.
And as far as Aamir and Poonam go, I dont see any difference. In both the cases, the intention was to capitalise on sympathy. I dont see any reason why Poonam’s doing so would be justified.
Peace!

My favorite little champs are: Aamir, Vibhore and Rohanpreet(thanks for asking HR Fan). It might be a sympathy vote for Aamir on my part but its difficult to watch the show and not get attached to the kids as you learn more about their lives and personalities every week. Oh and please someone tell me that the show is fair and unbiased. It would be terrible to watch a corrupt show and I would be awfully dissapointed.
Note to HR fan: I do not have face book, unfortunately

MusicBuff,
I do remember that. And I also remember what I said. I can also speak in Marathy does that really mean that I will have favoritism for Rohit? People can be linguists.
Such topics generally create bitterness in public forums. There could be hundred different types of favoritism happening here. There is no guarantee that you and I are free from some of them.

beingfair,
I dont want to get into a blame game here, but I remember well that after Challenge 2007 results, she was writing very good Bangla to communicate with you and Sandip da. How can you forget that?
As I have said earlier, I have spent good 4 years of my life in Northeast, but am not so well-versed in Bangla
Reply to this comment
Regional biases could be shown (sometimes) by people who are from that region or people who have some connection with that region like mother tongue, etc.
Delhi_gurl,
Are you a bong or are you from Northeast? If not then the hypothesis of Bong favoritism is absolutely wrong!

You’d have to wait for my response to get posted. I guess it is caught in moderation, But I’m sure it will show up.

@Sandip,
I’m sorry if you felt offended, but I must clear the air. I, in none of my comments, mentioned that Smita has not been getting an unwarranted flak. In fact, what I said was that why is Anamika being dragged into this? Anamika has been getting the best grades and comments for the last 3 to 4 episodes. So why include her name? The only connection it seems is that she is a bong as well.
In fact, the reason I stopped giving my opinion about grades for the last 2-3 epiosodes is that I myself am confused by the inconsistency in judges’ grades and my own opinion. I thought that Smita sang very well in both the episodes this week, and I really could not understand judges’ grades.
My outburst was particularly directed towards delhi_gurl, and not to Bengali community in general. Sorry if I was not able to make my point clear.

Music Buff …
Lol I am not a bong … but yes I know Bengali very well as I know Hindi Punjabi Little little gujju and little marathi and little Spanish and also little urdo and little better Punjabi. But No I am not Bengali. I will be really happy if you label me as Indian and not to any particular region.
Now it was my feeling that Smita is being criticized by Sonu and Anamika is being criticize by Sudesh. This is totally my personal feeling. I do agree last time Smita did not sang well but the song was also bit difficult keeping her age in mind. But again this is a competition let us not forget this and life is never fare game. Like our team is loosing in Australia there are lot to be blamed for there defeat but it is they who are losing.
My point was only to be little nice to those to contestant and cheer them up as you can see in Smita’s face clearly she now will hear some criticism from the judgment chair.
About Poonam the thing was diff. as she was below the poverty line and was raise by single parent came to light much after she proved herself to be really good talent. Aamir has just started proving himself that he has the talent and he needs public backup but he played his “gareeb” card to quickly. There is no crime being “Gareeb” but to ask vote based on that is not justified. If you listen carefully his mother said to the public to give him vote because he was “gareeb” and not because he is really talented and Ponnam ask vote for her talent not because she was “gareeb”
If I was able to explain my point properly …
But it is a crime to label me of a particular region as I do not belong to any region. I belong to India

MusicBuff ,
I did not expect this kind of comment from you!
Delhi_gurl was right in pointing out the continous criticism of Smita and Anamika compared to other contestants.
Just look at last episode…
Sonu said Smita sang in perfect sur but Sudesh ji said she was Kansura.
Who was right?
Look at other scoring patterns…
If sonu gives A+ sudesh ji gives B+ !!!
Last week Sudeshji gave Smita A but Sonu gave her B+ because she complained about her throat. ( And Sonu himself said only music should be considered!)
From the very begining I have been complaining about the inconsistency in grades.
Even Rohanpreet got B+ from one and A from another!
But look at the grades both Vaishali and Tanmoy are getting!
Its not a question of regional bias!
Reply to this comment
@delhi_gurl,
How was Poonam’s case different? Wasn’t she playing the sympathy (read Gareeb) card as well?
And, btw why are you clubbing Anamika with Smita in this harsh comments thing when Anamika has been getting the best comments and grades for the last 2 weeks. Do I smell a regional bias here (both Anamika and Smita being bongs)?

After reading the remarks it seems there is one contributor who is the best. Even the judges can’t outrun him and among the public his music familiarity is far superior from many. This is the reason he continues to rank and provide his outstanding advice about the contestant.
How about this now as public took Rohit out and we all know he is a great singer this time if we see Aamir to be outcast.
I agree with Sheetal that Aamir is trying to play the sympathy card now and want to label himself as “gaarib” we all know Poonam was labeled in a similar fashion but her case was so different as compare to Aamir.
This is not fare to seek public sympathy. I think he needs to be in the chopper now and ultimately result in his elimination.
Anamika and Smita is the only two contestants who need to face the judges every week with harsher remarks. There are ways to say things but the way Sonu and Sudesh pass there judgment about these to little girls is not fare. Last week Smita should not have selected Lataji song that was a difficult song but she tried too her best of abilities.
Who decides which singer will sing what song and why does he decide. Why cant the contestant choose there songs and try to perform. Yes they can be given guidelines like the category of singers or type of songs or the theme but the actual song the participants should have the liberty to choose. It is there competition not the competition for the song selector.
If we take a closer look Smita and Anamika always land up with a difficult songs as compare with Vaishali. Also let us not forget Vasndra she is also full of talent but now she is getting a bit downhill again choice of songs. These little singes should get relatively little easy songs as to a matured singer.

Sheetal,
I agree. I felt equally offended by that AV thing. And I felt the same last year when they showed Poonam’s AV. But I think it is the channel that should be blamed for this…we all know why they do all this…and I request the audiences to please not take these things into consideration while voting. Poonam and now Aamir, both, are very wonderful and talented singers and have the potential of winning contests solely based on their talent and capability, and do not require such gimmicks. At the same time I’d like to emphasize that people feeling offended by this AV should not have any bad feelings for Aamir. I think he is too young to even understand these things, or to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. I know his parents did wrong by capitalising on this opportunity, but may be excused for they, obviously, are not educated enough.

gud points that u do make there sheetal_lamba but u got to understand that ppl who arent as financially stable as weve cum from afffluent backgrounds arent able to think before they speak.nevertheless in this case its gud that aamir gets sympathetic votes as his one of the best singers unlike vasundara whos not consistent.therefore if there is some1 who would deserve votes it would be aamir

Rohit was best singer. He left a mark. One thing i liked about him is,he told his personal story when he was eliminated. He could have told his story in the beginning. My best wishes for rohit. He is talented with very positive attitude. He never tried to get sympathy votes.
i used to like Amir Hafiz.but after watching AV,in which his mother is saying ” HAM BAHUT GARIB HAI,AMIR KO VOTE TO”.come on this is a Talent show,Dont try to manipulate public.I would like to request everyone dont give votes out of Sympathy.Amir is Talented but dont give him votes just for sympathy but for his singing.I liked Sonu Nigams comment “GARIB GARIB KYA LAGA KE RAKHA HAI,GARIB KYA HOTA HAI PATA HAI….”
