Saregamapa Challenger 2007 contestant Poonam JadauÂ is a single mother..Â At the age of 26 Poonam has an adopted daughter named Simran, who is 6 yrs old now..

Poonam Jadau a contestant of Saregamapa, is no style diva but an ordinary girl from Lucknow who has taken the step of adopting a girl.

A source from the production house reveals that Poonam is only 26 years and belongs to a lower middle-class family. “As she is a contestant on the show, the channel wanted her mother to be present too. When they talked toÂ her mother in Lucknow over the phone to invite her, she asked if she could bring Poonam’s adopted daughter, Simran, as well. Needless to say, the channel was stunned with the revelation.”

Poonam’s father died before she was born. Her mother worked as a housemaid and also sold roasted corn on the streets of Lucknow. To make ends meet, Poonam managed to pass standard 12 and also worked in a PCO for Rs. 600 a month.Â

Her daughter Simran was just two when her biological mother abandoned her, four years ago. Poonam lived in the same neighbourhood and needless to say could not tolerate the apathy towards the girl child and took her home. Her mother was obviously stunned, but Poonam stood by her decision. Gradually, her mother also supported her cause and the little girl became a part of their family.

When contacted, Poonam said, “I adopted her because I didn’t want her to undergo the same difficulties as me. I still had shelter, she was abandoned.Â I feel that if every family adopts an orphan, no child will be without shelter. With my kind of income, if I can gather the courage to take this initiative, I think anyone can do it. We just need the determination to do it.”

Payaol Patel, the creative head of SaReGaMaPa confirmed the news. She said, “We were actually stunned when we heard about Poonam. When our team went to her house in Lucknow, they found that she lived in a very small house and she belongs to a lower middle-class family. Hats off to her, she has the guts to adopt a daughter. More so because she belongs to a poor family and being a single mother in a state like Lucknow is a laudable feat.”

Sandip, what does it matter where we express our views. HR is related to her elimination and thats why it’s mentioned in this thread!!!!!!

This does not in any way change the fact that we all respect Poonam.

Out of interest Sandip, what is your profession?

Sorry Aanshi,

How can ZEE TV be so careless. Also how come Poonam never clarified it. Noone likes their names to be mis-spelt. This change that too coming at the fag end when she is about to bow out. Anyway thats not important. Poonam will always be remembered for her singing abilities although she was awful and sounded totally out of sorts in that Kareena episode.

Re Saregamapa your elimination, if true, it is bad luck for ZEE TV & the Mentors. If our Politicians couldn’t respect public mentor HE Bharat Ratna APJ Abdul Kalam with 2nd term of Presidency, SGMP format missed to respect the voice we wanted. Anyway YOU HAVE WON THE CHALLENGE WITH YOUR VOICE/MUSIC & PERSONALITY- no question about it. You are the ROLE MODEL of this YOUNG INDIA. Young INDIA is now CHAKDE INDIA.

Regarding Poonam’s sirname.. There is a bit confusion everywhere..

But the fact is her sirname is Jadau and not Yadav… First Zee Saregamapa wrote her sirname as Yadav.. so everyone was used to that sirname..

But her real sirname is Jadau.. So I have started changing it.. now from Yadav to Jadau..

You did not understand my point.
Go ahead and blame HR and Aneek as much as you can.
But this thread has to do with Poonam’s noble deed and noble deed only.
I expect members to post their appreciation and respect for this girl in this thread.

For blaming HR and Aneek there are more than enough forums and places for you to handle!
Just lomit your comments in praising Poonam only in this thread!

And at least you have recognized my comments as saintly (though sarcastically) .

Fact is fact, everyone respects Poonam and she has made a special place in peoples hearts. HIimass Bersharmya is partially to blame for her elimination, whether you were clever enough to have observed this on the show is not our problem.

You just cannot accept the fact that anyone can have a different opinion to you and when we express it, you can’t take it.

Hum aapke samne natmastak hai!!
Himass shud be entirely blamed for her eviction,he just shamelessly promoted Sumedha And Mouli,regardless of the fact that Poonam is a far superior singer and far better human being than a million gurus and besharammiyas put together.
who says there is no achchai in this world !!

zee tv shud give her a cheque for 10 lakhs At least !! if there is a petition for that,tell me where to sign!!

wow poonam u are the winner in god’s heart. I am so touched and have tears in my eyes, Poonam may allah shower you with all the blessings that u may need in your path of life. Poonam you have the heart of gold, Weather she is financially good or not she is the winner in gods heart, and i know she will be one of the successful woman in coming future, she has done something that not many people do that. I am so speechless, god bless you poonam , God be with you and shower all his blessings to you ameen.

Hi

It is dissappointing that we could not save her but i can’t understand how she can be eliminated on the grounds of having a sore throat, that is the injustice. Sometimes i wonder if the voting has been tampered with.

It would be great if we can bring her back in the competition but i can’t see that happening.
Poonam has touched peoples hearts and will hopefully not be forgotten.

As much as i like Raja, i would have preferred to see him out than Poonam.

You are right, why can’t we write a petition to zee tv for a good course. I would defintely sign it!!!!

I think Poonam being eliminated is a big injustice. Just because she had a sore throat last week and did not sing too well, she is eliminated. People should not have forgeten how brilliantly she sang previously. There are other constestants in the competition who have not sung well, not because of a sore throat and are still in the competition.

I think that even ID was not very supportive of her last week, he should have praised her for how she sang despite haiving a sore throat like Vishal did. Instead ID told her to be careful, what kind of advice is that for a last performance of the show!!!!!

Himass Besharmya is also to blame for Poonams elimiation. He always went on and on about her poor background and people started to think that she was getting sympathy votes. He has played this very carefull, he knows that Ponnam is an excellent singer and was also a big threat to chipmunk aneek. Anyone who is a threat to Aneek, HR wants rid, like Raja. He knows Raja has a big number of fans.

I hope that Poonam does very well in the future, she really is a good example to people today in society. Adopting someone elses child is not an easy thing to do, especially for a single mother who is not financially well off. Respect to Poonam!!!!!

It is so sad that she will be leaving this week. I hope that the music directors sign her up. She is an excellent classical singer.

she doesn’t need to be a winner in SRGMP.she already won everyone’s heart.

SRGMP is just a chicken feed compared to what she has done in life.

Even though Poonam is out,SRGMP should give her a special recognition (for singing of course).
If anyone is ready to write a petition for Poonam I am there.
People can write petition to remove HR. Why can’t we all write a petition to zee tv for a good cause?

Indeed this is a very noble and a courageous deed… She is 26 now.. and the girl is 6 yrs old.. She must be 22 years old when she adopted that girl (who was 2 then..) Isnt that amazing..

Hats off to her.. I really respect this girl a lot more than I used to before..
