Review on Episode 7 of Saregamapa Challenge 2007

Today the show started with our very own cute Aditya Narayan in his dashing greying color jacket greeting all the gurus. They start with their gharana saga. He said that without any bias of religion or boundaries all our magical mentors have accepted all the contestants not only in their gharanas but also in their hearts.

Today is going to be the last week for Round 1 and the last eight contestants, two from each gharana are going to perform today and so even Ashaji’s tenure as Maha Guru is going to end today.

Today’s Theme : - Song composed by Bappi Lahiri

Did you guys knew Bappi Lahiri’s real name is Alokesh Lahiri? Bappi is just his nick name…

Bappida thanks Ashaji for giving him many hits and said he has sang atleast 500 songs along with Ashaji. Bappida sings his hit song from the movie Guru “Ek Lo Ek Muft” and then he requests Ashaji to sing along with a duet. They both sing “Raat Baaki Baat Baaki” and it was such an ernomous performance. Bappida thanked Ashaji and said that his first hit was with Ashaji and they both sing that song. It was “Jalta Hai Jiya Mera”. After this Bappida becomes really emotional and thanked Ashaji.

Shekhar hugged Bappida and said that he so proud that he is part of Bappida and Ashaji’s institute. Himesh Reshammiya said that Bappida is the best music director today in bollywood. Ismailji said he will ask Bappida to sing for him in a movie if he gets one. He said when Bappida was singing he was playing violin in air.

Then it was Aditya’s turn for request and he requested Ashaji to sing “Yaariye” for him. She sings that song and Aditya joined her. He said he forgot some of the lines and was trying to remember it. Ashaji sang a line in Nepali language which meant “Your face is looking very cute”. On this Aditya says that he doesnt think now he needs any other girl to comment or compliment him as he got his dream girl whom he respects and worships a lot complimenting him.

Finally the show started…..

Two contestants from Eklavya Gharana are selected.

Anita Bhatt from Lucknow, is selcted by Ismail Darbar for Rock Gharana and Brijesh Schandaliya, from Basti-UP is selected for Yalgar Gharana by Himesh Reshammiya.

First Gharana for last week of Round 1 is Rock Gharana

Ashaji introduces first gharana by singing Himesh’s song “Aashiq Banaya Aapne” atleast for three times. Today I think Himesh had decided not to get too excited so he was under control.. Way to go Himesh..

Nirupama Dey from Agartala, India and Joy Chakrobaty from Lumding, Assam, India are the last two yodhas from Rock Gharana to perform for Round 1.

Nirupama sang “Raat Baaki Baat Baaki” and Joy performed on “Yaad aa rahi hai”. Nirupama’s performance was so good.

Comments from Metors: -

Vishal-Shekhar - They liked voice of both the participants and according to them they have shown a lot of improvment from their last performance.

Ismail Darbar - It was an excellent effort by both of them. If they keep on making efforts they will hit success some point of time.

Bappida - Nirupama sang really good but for Joy he needs to start enjoying the singing and not just plain sing and go.

Himesh - They both have tremendous potential but did not gave their 100% in this performance.

Maha Guru’s comments :-

Ashaji thought both of them did not sing well and no feelings in any of the performance. She believes everyone is singing properly but they dont understand the meaning of wordings so they cannot go into the character.

Next to perform is Hit It Gharana

Sarikha Singh sings “Bheega Bheega Mausam” and Imran Aslam Mohammad perform on “Aa Pehli Baar”

Imran is the one from South Africa who had visa problem but now he is here to perform.

Comments from Mentors :-

Himeshji - Sarika sang really good infact she was mindblowing.. Imran needs to improve a lot..

Ismailji - Sarika gave an excellent performance. Regarding Imran he said to Vishal that he told them that he is coming and he is such a great singer and all that and when he came it is like “Khoda Pahad aur Nikla Chuha”. Vishal replied back by saying he was the best in Johannesburg but his today’s performance not even one tenth of what she presented that day.

Bappida - Sarika’s song touched his heart but Imran really needs to improve to remain in the competition.

Maha Guru’s comments :-

Ashaji - For Sarika she said when she sang anthra her high notes were shaky and whole sang overall looked out of place. She even asked all the gurus to comment if she was wrong. Vishal and Shekhar argues on it and Ashaji says if she would have sang one scale lower she could have performed better.

Yalgar Gharana Next to Perform

Jyoti Mishra sings “Aao tumhe Chaand Pe Le Jaaye” and Wasi Effandi sings “Zid na Karo ab to ruko”

Comments from Mentors: -

HR - He feels situation is such that he doesnot want to comment anything. He leaving comments on Bappi Da.

Bappida - To Wasi he said if he is singing “zid na karo ab to ruko” he needs to sing with lots and lots of feelings he just cant sing plain. For Jyoti she got nervous.

Ismailji - He asked Jyoti why she got nervous. Jyoti replied that she got nervous thinking of all the people before she singing and Ashaji is sitting in front of her and the mere thought made her nervous. Ismail tried to console her and bring the confidence back by saying everyone here has started with the level where she is here today.

Maha Guru Comments :-

Ashaji says that even today when she goes on stage to sing she feels nervousness and her hands are all shaky and sweaty. She backed up Jyoti by saying her nervosness will go away with time.

Josh Gharana Next to Perform

Reecha Tripathi, Allahabad, U.P / Vancouver, Canada sang “Isi Nazar Ko Tera Intzaar Aaj Bhi Hain” and Sikander Singh peforms on the song “Intaah Ho Gai Intazaar Ki”.

After Sikander finishes performance, Aditya asks Unko kiska intzaar hain, he says his wife.. There is a gift for Sikander.. He is shown his wedding photographs which he himself has not yet seen. Vishal says that Sikandar’s wife has been really lucky for him and he is going to go way far. Hearing this Sikander gets emotional and gets tears.. he says he didnt want to cry as the make up will get spoiled and he wanted to take a photograph with Asha tai.. Aditya consoles him says he will get a make up man for him again..

Ashaji then comments and says - “Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar”

ID asks - “Sikander bhai kaise ho” for which he replies - “Alla ki reham se maa ki dua se Public ki demand se tip top”

Results:

Sikander of Josh Gharana and Nirupama of Rock gharana go through next round. Rest of the 6 will have to perform tomorrow and out of them 4 will proceed, two will get eliminated.
