Bappi Lahiri

Bappi Lahiri was born in Calcutta, West Bengal in 1953 into a family with a rich tradition in classical music. His parents Aparesh Lahiri and Bansari Lahiri were very famous singer and musician. He started playing tabla at the age of three as he wanted to be famous internationally. He received his first opportunity in a Bengali film, Daadu (1972) at the age of 19.

He got his first opportunity in Bollywood in the year 1973 just at the age of 19 when he composed music for Nanha Shikari. He came into prominence when he composed super hit music for the movie “Zakhmee” in 1975. Then there was no looking back for him. He became very popular in 1980s with the films like “Disco Dancer” and “Namak Halal”.

Bappi Da also does playback singing for his own compositions. Some of the memorable songs are: -

Rahi Hu Mein (Wanted)
Tu Mujhe Jaan Se Bhi Pyaraa hai (Wardat)
Bambai Se Aaya mera Dost ( Aap ki khatir)
Yaad Aa Raha Hai (Disco Dancer)
Super Dancer (Dance Dance)
Jeena Bhi Kya Hai Jeena (Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki)
Tera Mera Pehla Yaarana (Shart)
Raat Baaki (Namak Halal)
Yaar Bina Chain Kaha Re (Saheb)
Bambai Nagariya (Taxi No 9211)

Lately he lent his voice to the title track of the film “Guru” in which the music was composed by A.R.Rahman.

I am form kolkata to. Dada,I never seen that you smile for Aneek. you said mouli is an Indian Sakira. very frank She is a stupid singer. Idont what you have get in her.I know little bit of Music.your 2 contitent are really hogwash, good for nothing . Comparativly Sumedha is good.

And we know that last 15-20yrs you did not give one good song for us , so your GARANA , what they can give us , we know.

best thing you can do you open a juwalier shop in kolkata or mumbai. DOnt mins, but truth is alwys truth but hard to accept. We are Helpless.

hi bappi da,
ur Gharana is my fav and u r doing a great job, but one thing disspointed me a lot, when Harpreet was crying no one said a single word for him and no one consoled him except Junaid, Adi and Aanad sir, I could expect it frm u bcz Harpreet was frm ur gharana but u didnt went to console him that was really sad but now I expect that he will come back in brahamsashtra round and u will support him, he is really a good singer
